About Us
Wexford Pantomime’s roots stretch back to the early 1900′s when the Franciscan Friars brought the tradition of Pantomime to Wexford. The Friars held Pantomimes in conjunction with the best of local talent for many years in the Theatre Royal up until the foundation of the Opera Festival.
At this point the Pantomime Society moved to its new home in the Dun Mhuire Theatre where it is still held each January to this day. This outstanding Society grew from strength to strength with the support of the Dun Mhuire.
Pantomime is a beautiful introduction for children to the theatre. It is a timeless form of entertainment that has people of all ages 3 to 83 rolling in the aisles. Pantomime is the idle start to the new year. It lifts the post Christmas blues and sends you into the new year smiling. The Wexford Pantomime Society is proud to carry this ageless tradition into the new millennium and looks forward to entertaining the people of Wexford for many years to come.
Wexford Pantomime Society is always open to new members of any age, in all areas of our production, and if you would like to get involved watch this website or like us on Facebook for news on upcoming productions.
